About Eleanor
I like teaching, drawing, speaking Spanish, and farming. I have lived in many places, including New Mexico, Iowa, Guanajuato, Virginia, and, most recently, Washington State.
I keep my artwork simple and vulnerable. I tend to draw in pen without erasing, trying not to worry about whether an image is "good" or not. Sometimes I draw on paper scraps: old notes from my grandma, pages from my teaching notebook, to-do-lists. To add color, I use the same type of colored pencils I used in middle school. When I want to do something more polished, I draw digitally.
Here are some artists who inspire me:
-
Bill Watterson, who taught me to read
-
Trina Schart Hyman, who made beautiful pictures for children
-
Rini Templeton, who drew for change
-
Banksy, who doesn't ask permission
-
Julia Kaye, who keeps it to three panels
